Environmental Policy

Stevens Hewlett & Perkins recognises its responsibility to safeguard the environment. Environmental considerations are taken into account throughout our business activities. We are committed to minimising the adverse effects of our business on the environment through individual and collective awareness of environmental issues.

We seek to give proper weight to environmental considerations with respect to both business inputs (e.g. energy, consumables) and outputs (e.g. correspondence/documentation, waste). In doing so we look to adopt measures which minimise environmental impact wherever possible. Our goal is to develop a coherent environmental management system encompassing every aspect of our business.

Our clear objective is to minimise any impact on the environment by:

  • considering the effects that our operations may have on the local community;
  • taking action to eliminate or reduce, as far as practicable, any potentially adverse environmental impacts;
  • promoting environmental awareness amongst our suppliers, contractors and partners by implementation of operational procedures.

The staff at SH&P are actively encouraged to follow best practice where minimising our environmental impact is concerned. We promote a cross company policy of education and communication to raise employee awareness of environmental issues and best practices with great emphasis placed on the “environmental 3Rs” – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. In particular our team is actively encouraged to:-

  • Avoid unnecessary use of energy by turning off lights, switching off electronic equipment and limiting the use of heating and air conditioning systems;
  • Think twice before printing emails and/or copying documents;
  • Reuse and recycle office consumables such as paper, cardboard, packaging materials, plastic/paper cups, aluminium cans, printer cartridges, IT equipment and stationery;
  • Apply the environmentally friendly principles in life outside the office.

Appointed members of staff have responsibilities for the implementation of our environmental policy and are expected to ensure that environmental issues are made apparent in the operation of our firm and are given adequate consideration in the planning and day-to-day supervision of all work.

SH&P will fully comply with the statutory duties placed upon us, whilst at all times complying with, as a matter of best practice, the requirements and duties set out within Approved Guidance as issued by the Environment Agency and other organisations.

In addition to our employees we hope that our business partners and clients will co-operate and assist in the implementation of this policy as far as is practicable.
