Ceili is based in the London office where she specialises in patent law as it relates to physics and materials science as well as UK and European design protection. After graduating from Oxford University with a degree in physics and doctorate in crystallography, she entered the patent profession in 1995, qualifying as a UK Patent Attorney in 1998 and a European Patent Attorney the following year. She joined the firm in 2000 after five years working for a government research establishment where, in addition to handling patent applications, she also gained experience in licensing and contractual matters affecting intellectual property.
Ceili has considerable experience in patent prosecution, including attendance at European Patent Office hearings. The technical fields covered by her work are many and diverse. They include: scanning probe microscopy; medical devices, equipment and instrumentation; oil-field drilling equipment; industrial fabrics and material processing; semiconductor devices; residential and industrial fixtures and fittings; image processing; telecommunications; computer network operation and various computer-implemented inventions.
