SH&P Business Trip to Japan

Steve Wilkinson and Peter Cornford, two of the firm’s partners, have recently returned from one of the firm’s periodic visits to our associates in Japan. Steve and Peter spent just over a week in the heart of Tokyo making personal visits to several firms of patent and trade mark attorneys with whom we have regular contact. Steve and Peter also visited associates in Osaka. Our firm is fortunate to have longstanding links with many firms of Japanese patent and trade mark attorneys for whose household name clients we act on a continuous basis. We are fortunate equally to work with Japanese associate practices which are renowned internationally since this is of direct benefit to our own multinational clients.

Our Japanese colleagues were keen to hear of recent developments in European patent and trade mark law which we explained to them and we were rewarded with their hospitality in a variety of restaurants in Tokyo and Osaka.

As always, there was some time for sightseeing and on the agenda this time was the temples complex at Kamakura, a trip on the Bullet Train and a shopping trip into the world renowned Ginza district.

We look forward very much to our next visit and to welcoming our Japanese colleagues to London and Bristol when they make return visits.
