Peter has worked in private practice since 1989, qualifying as a trade mark attorney in 1994. He joined the firm in 1997 and became a partner in 2005. He is involved continuously in a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters, being responsible for the global management and strategic direction of the brand portfolios of several of the firm’s largest clients. He handles trade mark work for household names in industry sectors as diverse as footwear and the fashion industry, entertainment, publishing, the motor industry and homeopathic medicines.
Peter is co-author of Alison Firth, Gary Lea and Peter Cornford, Trade Marks: Law & Practice, 3rd edn. (2012) Jordan Publishing Limited and Adam Jolly (ed), The Handbook of European Brand Rights Management (2011).
He graduated from Exeter University with a first class honours degree and where he worked on a doctoral thesis relating to the economic development of the South West of England.
Peter is a Registered Trade Mark Attorney, European Trade Mark Attorney and Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys. He is a regular attendee at INTA.
