The Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) has handed out a fine of £500,000 to an agency that has been contacting trade mark owners, and leading them to believe that it was the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO). The agency, which called itself ‘The Intellectual Property Agency’, was found guilty of passing off and of trade mark infringement. The fine is the maximum that can be handed out by the IPEC. The Launchpad competition, organised by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE), has been won by the inventor of an inflatable incubator.
